Warnings Sent Out Over Several Break-ins

An apartment complex near the Southgate Shopping Center is warning their residents about car break-ins.

This week, five cars in The Wildridge Apartments had their windows broken and items stolen from them. Management posted warning letters on tenants’ doors.

“People are trying to do what they can to survive, I guess. But breaking into cars is not the answer,” said resident Ashli Arellano.

Arellano said she is a little worried. “(My roommate) got her bike stolen a few weeks ago. It was on our back porch,” she said.

“It happens this time of year, you kind of expect it,” said resident Daryl Sanders.

Sanders said he has lived at the complex for five years and has had his car broken into. “About 2 1/2 years ago I did. They only took my apron,” he said.

The Wildridge staff is urging residents to not leave any visible belongings in their vehicles and to be watchful of after dark activity.

The staff said neighboring properties have had similar problems.
