Body Of Missing Salida Woman Found

A Salida woman who never returned home from a doctor’s appointment has been found dead.

The Chaffee County sheriff’s office said the body of 55-year-old Sue Johnson was found Friday near a side road in the Brown’s Creek area. Her car was found Thursday near a trailhead after her husband reported her missing.

Authorities say they don’t know how she died but they say there was no obvious trauma to her body. An autopsy is planned.

Volunteers searched for Johnson Thursday and Friday. A bloodhound from the Buena Vista prison located her body.
