UPDATE: Stolen Car Leads To Police Chase

Police are still investigating a string of events that began with a stolen car around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from the 3900 block of Harmony Drive. A witness reported seeing two black males dismantling the stolen vehicle in the 1400 block of Tappan Circle.

When police arrived, the suspects sped away in a Nissan Pathfinder and police followed. During the chase, the driver of the vehicle jumped out of the car while it was still moving. The SUV smashed into a fence on Sawyer Way, and the suspects ran away on foot.

Meanwhile, police received a phone call from a woman saying her Pathfinder had been stolen. According to police, they quickly determined it was a false report and that the woman was also involved in the crime.

An officer observed two men matching the description of the suspects enter a taxi at the nearby Heritage Place Apartments.

Police arrested 18-year-old Joshua McKinley for three felony charges including Theft by Receiving, Theft of Auto Parts, and First Degree Criminal Mischief.

The owner of the Pathfinder, who called police, was also detained and will be charged with False Reporting To Authorities and Obstructing.

Police say they are looking for at least one more suspect, but there could be more.
