Springs Man Arrested For Having Sexual Contact With Child

Colorado Springs police have arrested a man, alleging that he watched pornographic videos in the presence of an 11-year-old victim and had repeated sexual contact with the child.

Glen Owen Godec was arrested at his home in the 300 block of Kenady Circle on Dec. 6 after a 5-month-long investigation into the accusations.

“It’s very disheartening to have something like that happen in your neighborhood,” said neighbor Justin Dorsch, who said he didn’t know Godec. “It’s not something that anybody knew about.”

Godec is charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a child and possession of pornography after images of child pornography were found in his possession. Police said he showed pornography to the victim and touched her inappropriately.

“She didn’t think anything was wrong until her mother said that it was,” said a family friend who declined to be identified.

Police say some of the images involved the victim and a younger sister, as well as unknown children. However, police believe none of the unknown children is from the Colorado Springs area.

Furthermore, police say Godec took professional photographs associated with local middle schools and schools of dance in which he would have had contact with other children and their families. Police say they have no evidence yet that other victims may exist. According to his Facebook page, he owns Godecs Auctions.

If anyone has received information from their child that there may have been any inappropriate contact with Godec, please contact Det. Don Ramirez at 444-7640.

“We don’t have anything that directly leads us to believe there’s abuse cases in (the middle school) population,” says police Sgt. Hugh Velasquez. “But given the nature of his crime and his contact with that population, we want the public to be aware of it.”

It’s believed that the alleged crimes happened at Godec’s home and not in a public location where he may have been doing photography work. Several people tell KRDO Newschannel 13 that Godec works at Godec’s Photo Supply downtown, a business owned by his family. However, an unidentified man working at the store Monday denied that Godec has any connection to the shop.

Godec is free on bond until his scheduled court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
