Baby Cameron Comes Home

A Pueblo baby, paralyzed by a rare medical condition, is finally home after spending nearly a month in a Denver hospital.

Baby Cameron is doing much better. His family is happy to have him home, especially his 2 year-old sister, Mackenzie.

?When I brought him home, his sister was so excited. He had a grin on his face and he was so excited to see everything, and they both sat at the Christmas tree last night just starring at the lights,? said Cameron?s mom, Holly Martin.

Ten-month-old Cameron came home Monday after being diagnosed with transverse myelitis. Cameron was just learning how to walk when the illness left him paralyzed. He still can?t move from the waste down.

?If he’s able to walk again, it is going to be a long hard struggle,? said Martin.

It has been a struggle for Cameron and his parents. The medical bills have put them thousands of dollars in debt. They hope a fundraiser Tuesday evening at the Praise Assembly of God gym will help.

The spaghetti dinner was $7. There was also a silent auction. All the items in the auction were donated.

“To have so many people, a lot we have never met, show their concern and give their prayers. It’s amazing,? said Chris Martin, Cameron?s dad.

When NewsChannel 13 first interviewed Holly, we asked what her Christmas wish was. She replied,? For him to come home.?

Her wish came true.

Chris said he also wanted his son home, but has another wish.

?If I could get anything now, it would be some kind of miracle breakthrough for him,? said Martin.

They Martins have already raised enough money to allow Holly to stay home from work for the next two weeks. She will be helping Cameron with his therapy.

The Martins have an account set up at Minnequa Works Federal Credit Union or you can email Babycameronfund@yahoo.com.
