UPDATE: Gym Members Getting Billed Twice
Members of the Briargate Gold?s Gym said they got a nasty surprise Saturday when they found out they?ve been billed twice for their membership dues.
?This is not a good way to start my Saturday you double dipped my bank account…lets get this fixed fast,? posted one of its members on Gold?s Gym?s Facebook page.
Members told TARGET 13 that it has to do with the ownership change at the gym.
In November, the owners of the strip mall locked the franchisee out after he didn?t pay his rent. Gold Gym?s corporate office took over the location in late November to make sure members weren?t affected, but that has caused the double billing issue.
?Members are being put in the middle and they?re pointing fingers are each other,? said John Nunes.
He is canceling his membership to go to a different gym.
?They?re trying to walk the line, but in the end, it?s still Gold?s Gym,? said Nunes.
TARGET 13 did try calling the Briargate Gym several times but couldn?t get anyone to respond. After trying for almost an hour a representative said we needed to call the corporate office.
Gold’s Gym International responded to the story Tuesday with this helpful information.
“If you see billing activity on your financial statement from “Gold’s Gym ABC” dated 11/10/2011 or thereafter, this is not from us (Gold’s Gym International) and was processed by the former franchise owner. You may contact them directly at 719-339-6604 for reimbursement or you may contest these charges with your financial institution.”
