Power, Water Main Issues Keep Utilities Crews Busy

Colorado Springs Utilities was working a power outage Sunday night.

The outage was affecting people in the Rockrimmon area of Northwest Colorado Springs.

Initially, 3,113 customers were affected. By 8:45 p.m., that number was down to 152, and by 9:40 p.m. service had been restored to all customers.

Equipment failure was to blame.

Water line issues were also keeping crews busy.

Colorado Springs Utilities reports 16 water customers lost service because of a watermain break near Galley and Doyle.

Another 30 customers lost service because of a water main break near Chelton and Uintah.

Both breaks are expected to be repaired tonight.

There is also a water leak at Elkton and Rusina. No customer service was affected, but the road in that area may be extra slippery because of the leaking water.
