Baby (Goat), It’s Cold Outside!

By anyone’s standards, goats are considered farm livestock.

Make no mistake — Bubbalina, the mini pygmie goat fits in that category, too. But before you relegate this two foot tall nanny strictly to outdoor life, know that she’s got a tall order of smarts about her.

Just when the temperatures plunge and the wind starts to howl, Bubbalina’s right there — butting her head at the back door — to be let inside. And she gets her way.

With sheer determination, she heaves her wide girth — nearly wide as she is tall — up through the sliding glass door opening and inside the Woods’ family home near Midway.

Clop, clop, clop, clop. Bubbalina’s hoofs beat against the wooden floors in a determined cadence. With undeterred stride, she makes her way straight back to the living room — an area rug specifically, that’s waiting for her before the fireplace warmth.

It’s been this way for years, according to owner Sandra Woods.

“She picks her little carpet, and that’s her thing,” Woods explains.

The other animals know it, too. They only dare to lay on the edge of Bubbalina’s carpet.

“They know it’s Bubbalina’s spot. When the dogs get too close, she will head-butt them.”

This Alpha-Goat also has house manners. The mini pygmie is potty-trained.

That’s one stock animal with a pretty high IQ, no questions asked.
