Pueblo House Fire May Have Been Started By Squatters

There was a house fire in Pueblo Friday morning that investigators say may have been started by squatters.

Investigators say the fire was in a vacant, single-family home.

The Pueblo Fire Department got a call about the fire around 7 a.m. When they arrived the fire was coming from the downstairs window and the attic.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire. No one was in the house when fire crews arrived and there were no injuries.

Investigators say there are no utilities to the home so they suspect the fire was started by vagrants or squatters. They believe vagrants started the fire in the home to stay warm and it got out of control.

Although the fire would be an accident if this is the case, it would still be considered a crime if they are caught.
