More Stores Burglarized During Holiday Season
Holiday store ripoffs, sadly, are a sign of the season. It’s also scary for a store owner who can lose more than what’s in the cash register.
Several places have been burglarized over the last few days. Store owners said they aren?t all that surprised since the holiday season is here.
A simple sign that reads,”Through this doors walk the nicest people in the world,? making customers feel special.
Seabel?s Manager Vivian Pena-Lopez knows not everyone has good intentions.
?In the last couple of years we’ve seen a lot of thefts,? said Lopez.
They?ve had everything from crooks with sticky fingers to thieves who snatch and run. It happens more this time of the year.
?We have more traffic so we’re going to have more theft. It?s very disheartening because were just trying to make a sale,? said Lopez.
It?s about more than just losing a sale. Police said store owners can also be in danger. They suggest not having too many posters that would block the view of the store from the outside, and keep your shop well lit. They also said avoid staying open late.
?Make eye contact and wait on your customers,? said Lopez.
After working retail for some time, Lopez knows the red flags.
She said her staff is well informed on their crime prevention plan.
