Going Without So Others Might Have More
10 days with no coat, 10 days with no shoes and 10 days with furniture, these are some of the challenges blogger Daniel Day is putting himself through with the goal of raising money for different non-profit organizations.
Day says he takes his challenges very seriously. The 10 days he didn’t wear shoes he was attempting to raise money for Shuzz, an organization that gives shoes to the less fortunate. Day say he didn’t wear shoes to work, business meetings and even ran into a King Soopers once to grab some food. Day says once people know why he is doing it, they are very supportive.
One of Day’s more difficult challenges was 10 days without legs where he used a wheelchair to get around. It was especially challenging because he and his wife have two young children.
“10 days without legs was the first one the definitely had me on edge because it was so different and legs is something we all use especially if we have them and are able to use them,” says Day.
Next on the list is 10 days of not using money. The entire Day family will be participating in this challenge and plan to donate the money they would have spent to charity.
” (I) am not going to Starbucks to buy a latte, not going to the grocery store everyday, which is one of my more favorite things to do, and things like that to get snacks,” says Day
Before that challenge, though Day must first finish off 10 days without a coat. The weather has been very cooperative, but later this week temperatures are expect to drop with the possibility of snow. Day says it is a reminder that some people can’t even afford a coat to keep them warm.
“I think it might snow on Thursday. That might make it a little interesting, but there there’s a lot of people in Colorado Springs and around the country that don’t have a coat for the winter,” says Day.
Day is encouraging people around the country to donate coats to local organizations.
