Bill Would Let Americans Be Held Without Charges
The U.S. Senate is set to vote on a bill that would let American military forces detain U.S. citizens as a war criminals, holding them without charges or a trial.
The National Defense Authorization Act (S.1867) regularly comes before Congress, but many say the latest provision goes too far in stripping Americans of their constitutional freedoms. One of those is Mark Udall, who is working to remove Section 1031 from the measure.
Sen. Lindsey Graham supports the bill, saying that it states for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield.
