CSPD Searches For Witnesses To Deadly Bar Fight

Police said they are still looking for witnesses to a deadly fight outside a Colorado Springs bar.

The brawl left William “Josh” Landrum, 27, dead after police said he was hit by a softball sized rock. The fight happened just after 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Hondos Sports Bar on Centennial Boulevard, just north of Garden of the Gods. No arrests have been made.

Police said when they arrived on scene, eight to 10 people were fighting. When the crowd cleared, they said they found Landrum unconscious, his head and face badly bleeding. Witnesses told police that Landrum had been assaulted in a separate incident, and the people who hit him with the rock took off running to the west.

Landrum died at the hospital.

KRDO Newschannel 13 talked to Hondos patrons who said the people who started the fight were at another nearby bar, and came to the Hondos parking lot after the bar was already closed. They said the victim was inside Hondos for about 30 minutes before closing time.

Police haven’t officially ruled the death a homicide. An autopsy is expected Monday. If Landrum’s death is ruled a homicide, it would be the 26th this year in Colorado Springs. The city’s deadliest year was in 2007 when there were 28 homicides.
