Pueblo River Walk Illuminated For Lighting Extravaganza

It was the kick off to the Christmas season in Pueblo Friday night. Hundreds of people came to the River Walk for the 12th Annual Lighting Extravaganza.

For many it’s a holiday tradition.

“This year it’s nice because of the weather, so we’ll probably stay longer,” said Jim Valentine. “It’s a good time for family.”

Valentine came with his little girl, Roxy, who had only one thing on her mind.

“Santa Claus and my presents!” she said.

Besides Santa and Mrs. Clause, there was live music, boat rides and a dazzling fireworks show over Lake Elizabeth.

“You can’t beat it,” said Valentine. “Proud to be in Pueblo this time of year.”

The holiday fun continues on Saturday. Pueblo’s Parade of Lights starts at 5:30 p.m.

The parade route is the same as in previous years. It begins at Colorado and Abriendo Avenues at the Mesa Junction, continues up Union Avenue to Court Street and ends at Pueblo Bank & Trust.

This year’s theme is “Holiday Dreams.” Organizers say a float with Santa will kick off the parade and that he will be at Pueblo Bank after it’s over.
