Update: Suspicious Backpack Safe, Fort Carson Gate 1 Open

Gate 1 on the Mountain Post was shut down for more than an hour, as authorities investigated a suspicious backpack. They now tell us the backpack was safe and contained no threatening materials.

A Fort Carson Spokesman tells KRDO Newschannel 13, the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team has been called in.

All traffic is being detoured to Gate 3, while the EOD Team investigates.

No word on how long it may take.
