Pueblo Offers Big Savings On Prescription Drugs

Pueblo city leaders have come up with a way to help people pay for prescription drugs.

“It is a prescription discount card, so if you do not have insurance cover that would give you benefits in some other way, you can present this with your prescription and you will receive a discount on them,” said Michelle Sandoval, director of Wayside Cross Gospel Rescue Mission.

The card is free and can save you an average of 20 precent off of prescription drugs. City leaders teamed up with the National League of Cities to make it possible. The cards are for people who are completely uninsured for prescriptions.

“You can contact the city manager’s office to get one,” said Sandoval.

The cards are being handed out in several place in Pueblo, including the Wayside Cross Gospel Rescue Mission on 4th Street.

“We’ve had quite a few people pick them up,” said Sandoval.

She said she hasn?t heard anything negative about the cards.

“That tells me its either working or they’ve found better options,” said Sandoval.

They started handing out the cards in the beginning of the month.

“I don’t know if this is the answer for everyone that needs assistance, but I do know that as an organization trying to help every way possible, we appreciate the city manager’s office doing their best to give people options and this is something they can try,” said Sandoval.
