Suspicious Package Turns Out To Be Tar Block
Colorado Springs police say a suspicious package found Friday afternoon in Pioneer Park turned out to be nothing.
Someone called police just before 5:30 p.m. to report a suspicious package in the bushes. Police say the package was a 14-inch square 8-inch thick block.
The Regional Explosives Unit responded to the scene, and after nearly three hours determined the package was a large block of tar commonly used for construction purposes.
Police say they aren’t sure why the block was hidden in the park because there’s no construction site nearby.
