Springs Woman Kidnapped By Boyfriend

Colorado Springs police arrested a man suspected of kidnapping his girlfriend.

Police said Deon Smith forced the victim from her home, then drove her around the city for four hours, refusing to let her go.

She was able to convince him to let her go. Police Sgt. Joel Kern said in this situation, it was the best thing the victim could do. “Generally, when you’re put in a situation where someone has a gun and has taken you against your will, your best course of action is to cooperate and reason with the suspect,” Kern said.

The victim called police when she got home. Police said they were able to get Smith to the victim’s home by having her send him a text. He was then arrested with out any issues, officials said.
