Fake Law Firm Calls Woman Saying She’ll Be Arrested

A Fountain woman is told she is going to be thrown in jail and face criminal charges, but she said it was part of a scam to get her money.

“He began reading a script filled with all these charges against me in California,” said Jennifer Moreno.

Moreno said a man called her and identified himself as a representative of the All State Law Group in California. She said he was seeking money she supposedly owed a pay day company.

“He threatened my life, my safety … and told me I was going to jail for 1,000 days,” said Moreno.

She said the man also told her officers would taking her into custody on Friday morning.

Luckily, Moreno wasn’t fooled by the long list of lies and hung up. She then called Fountain Police to report the scam.

“If a consumer gets a call from a business threatening them, the police will take action. It is a red flag,” said Cmdr. Michael Haley.

Haley recommends just hanging up on scam calls like this one.
