MMJ Robbery Suspect Arrested

A man who robbed a medical marijuana business on Monday was arrested on Wednesday.

19-year-old James Cody was recognized by someone as a guest in a motel. Detectives arrested him around 4:30 a.m.

Police say Cody robbed a medical marijuana business and assaulted the clerk in Colorado Springs Monday morning.

The robbery happened at The Indispensary located in the 3000 block of W Colorado Ave around 10:20 a.m.

Cody allegedly walked in, assaulted the clerk, locked him in the bathroom and then blocked his way out with furniture. The thief took off with cash and several jars of marijuana.

The suspect was observed in the area prior to the crime and appeared to have been “casing” the store.

What Cody may not have known before the crime is that there are up to nine cameras inside the store that were recording his every move. This picture ultimately led to his identification and arrest.

The clerk had non life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
