Fremont Elementary Lock Down

Colorado Springs School District 11 tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that Fremont Elementary School is no longer on a “precautionary” lock down.

Fremont Elementary School is located at 5110 El Camino Drive.

The district said the “precautionary” lock down only lasted about an hour.

The parent of an elementary student came to the school trying to see his child but school staff at the school asked him to leave because they had prior knowledge that he was wanted by police, Colorado Springs police said.

The man, identified by police as Stephen Tyron, left the school and went into his truck in the parking lot, said police.

The Staff at the school decided to go on a lock down until they were informed that he was out of the area, police said.

Police officers and school resource officer’s searched the area and Tyron’s residence in an attempt to locate him but he was not found, according to police.

Tyron is wanted for domestic violence, 3rd degree assault and obstruction of a telephone/telegraph, police said.
