Dr. John Torres
Dr John Torres joined the KRDO team in 2008. In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, Dr John Torres also brings his Emergency Medicine experience to KRDO as their medical expert. He is able to use this expertise to answer viewers questions and help them better understand what new health stories really mean to them and their families. When it comes to helping you stay healthy you’ll constantly hear him uttering his favorite phrase ?everything in moderation?.
Dr John didn’t start off in television. He enjoyed a stint as a disc jockey during high school in Albuquerque. Thankfully there aren’t any pictures left of his “Top 40” days. But having been raised an Air Force “brat”; he naturally joined the Air Force himself by entering the US Air Force Academy for college. A proud 82 Grad, he then went on to a very enjoyable career as an Air Force Pilot. But during this time flying around the world he realized his true dream was to become a doctor. Somehow he was able to convince his wife to pack up their 2 kids and move back to Albuquerque where he entered the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. After finishing medical school and an Emergency Medicine residency, he and his family moved back to Colorado, a place they fell in love with years before. From there he started his television career and found his way to KRDO. He has continued to provide medical expertise to their health stories. He also opened Premier Urgent Care in 2008 in Monument and expanded to a second Premier Urgent Care clinic in northern Colorado Springs at North Academy and I-25. Through these clinics he continues to provide quality medicine himself and with his team of excellent physicians and staff. When not treating patients or going on air, “Dr John” enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 adult children. He can also be found hitting Colorado trails on his mountain bike or trying to squeeze in a quick camping trip.
