Cripple Creek Horses Neglected, Says Neighbor

Carolyn Bondy lives across the street from a home that houses two horses, B.B. and Sugar.

Bondy said she believes the owner has moved out of the home and no longer cares for the horses.

?They?re not being fed. They?re craving attention. They?re craving food and water. I feel for them, I mean somebody needs to help with these animals,? said Bondy.

Bondy said she does bring food to the horses when she can. She also said a Victor bakery brings the horses bread occasionally but said the horses need more help.

Bondy told KRDO Newschannel 13 another man, who Teller County Animal Control said has a ?controlling interest? in the property, began feeding the animals on a consistent basis.

Bondy said the horses’ owner ?put contempt charges on this man. Now, the horses are not being taken care of at all, and it?s sad.?

Teller County Animal Control said they have been dealing with this situation since June, describing it as ?messy.?

They said a judge ruled the horses’ care the responsibility of the original owner.

Teller County Animal Control said they are monitoring the horses well-being on a daily basis and have provided the horses with hay and water.

They said they will be visiting the horses on a daily basis to ensure they are being cared for properly, but they did say they believe the horses to be in good condition.

Teller County Animal Control told KRDO Newschannel 13 the horses’ owner was charged with animal abandonment in June.

The ex-wife of the horses’ owner told KRDO Newschannel 13 that the owner does not live in the home any longer, but has arranged for the horses to be cared for. She ensures the horses are healthy.
