Arrests Made In Brutal Attack On Elderly Couple

Colorado Springs Police have made three arrests in a home invasion and brutal attack on an elderly couple.

Investigators have been questioning suspects for two weeks and have made three arrests, one adult and two juveniles.

20-year-old Darryl Lynch was taken into custody. Two juvenile suspects have also been taken into custody and charged for their involvement in the case.

On October 28th, there was an early morning home invasion robbery in the 2100 block of Grafton Drive. Two victims in their 70’s, Dale and Dorothy Nachazel, were brutally attacked and beaten with pistols. Both victims were transported to Memorial Hospital. Dale was released the following day after receiving treatment for a concussion and multiple contusions and lacerations. Dorothy was admitted to Intensive Care for serious head trauma. Her condition eventually improved and she was released the following week. During the robbery, several guns were stolen.

As the investigation progressed, detectives learned the possible whereabouts of some of the weapons. To date, one of the firearms has been recovered; the search for the remaining weapons continues.

It appears the robbery was committed against the victims based on one of the suspects having knowledge of firearms in the victims’ home. All three suspects face charges of Aggravated Robbery, First Degree Assault on an At-Risk Adult, First Degree Burglary, Conspiracy and Felony Theft. Additional weapons related charges may also be added.

Dale and Dorothy Nachazel planned to leave Colorado Springs after the attack. Their daughter helped pack up their belongings two days after the attack. Deborah Roebuck said her parents had been planning to move to the East Coast to be closer to her, but the brutal attack sped things up.

There is a fund set up for the Nachazels at Academy Bank to help with medical expenses. There’s an Academy Bank in all area Walmart stores.
