Woodmen Road Project Gets State Award

The newly completed Woodmen Road project has been recognized by the state for engineering excellence.

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Colorado recognizes the Woodmen Road Corridor Improvement Project – Phase 1 with its “Engineering Excellence Award.” The project is one of six recognized across the state and will be considered for the national ACEC award.

Project Manager, Dan Krueger, says, “This type of recognition is difficult to obtain. The project required many hours of dedicated, hard work and effort.”

The completed Phase 1 is part of a three-phase project to increase traffic capacity and safety in the Woodmen Road corridor. The completed project widened Woodmen Road between I-25 and Bell Drive to six lanes and constructed the Woodmen/Academy interchange.

Substantial completion of Phase 1 was achieved 34 days ahead of the original project schedule and was completed within budget. Phase 1 used enough asphalt to cover 25 football fields, enough cast-in-place concrete to fill six Olympic-sized swimming pools and included about seven miles of curb and gutter.
