Mother Delivers Own Baby At Home

Larissa Loomis said her contractions began early in the morning on Sunday. She said everything was going normally, and so she instructed her husband, Shawn, to take their 2-year-old son to her parent?s house.

?I thought we had plenty of time,? said Loomis.

Loomis said while her husband was dropping their son off, her water broke. At this point, Shawn Loomis said he received a text from his wife that read: water broke.

?Everything became very intense and 15 minutes later I had a baby,? said Larissa Loomis.

After delivering 6 pound 2 ounce Gwyneth, Larissa Loomis said she called 911. She said that before paramedics arrived at her home, her husband returned.

?When I walked into the bathroom, she was kneeling on the bathroom floor facing away from me, and I heard a baby cry. That?s about the time my heart stopped,? said Shawn Loomis.

?I couldn?t believe what was going on. She stayed calm, turned around and handed me the phone and said ?She came a little fast than I thought. Here?s the phone. It?s 911. You may want to talk to them,’? Shawn added.

The couple told KRDO Newschannel 13 the paramedics began giving them instructions over the phone, detailing what to do next.

?I think I was more calm than he was! They were trying to get him to get me some clothes. He couldn?t remember our last name, couldn?t find my clothes,? said Larissa Loomis.

Paramedics eventually arrived at the home, assisted the couple in detaching the umbilical cord and transported the trio to the hospital.

Shawn Loomis said if a circumstance like this was to happen to anybody, he said his wife is one of the few who could handle it.

?She is wearing a cape, or at least hiding it somewhere. We?re positive of that. She is Super Mom, and now we?ve got Super Baby,? he said.

The couple said they plan on leaving the hospital Monday afternoon and are thankful that everybody is healthy.
