Man Robbed At Gunpoint Outside Apartment

A man is robbed at gunpoint right outside his apartment on the Southside of town.

It?s unsettling news for people living at Western Terrace Apartments.

?I was pretty surprised,? said Sabrina Gravely. ?Shocked,? replied Mariah Dozie.

Shocked, surprised and now scared.

Gravely lives at Western Terrace. ?My husband, he doesn’t think it’s the safest neighborhood,? said Gravely.

Gravely disagrees and calls the apartments safe, so does Mariah Dozie.

?I never feel any ruckus or anything like that. I feel its pretty safe environments,? said Dozie.

But, Saturday night a man was robbed at gunpoint. Police reports show it happened right before 10 p.m. The victim was walking from his car to his upstairs apartments when a man in a gray hoodie demanded money.

Police said the suspect had a gun, took the victim?s money and cell phone.

?Makes you want to run inside. I’m not getting robbed,? said Dozie.

We tried talking to the victim, but got no response.

?I’m the type of person who hates being alone in the dark, so, I’m definitely going to be more cautions always looking over my shoulder,? said Gravely.

Police found the suspect, 18-year-old Clarence Thompson, in a nearby convenience store. He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and the money was returned to the victim.
