Police Investigate Suspected Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation

Colorado Springs police and other agencies raided a home on Friday they believe is illegally growing medical marijuana. Police say it’s the second time in a month that they have raided the home.

Around noon, officers and members of the SWAT team served a search warrant in the 2700 block of Oro Blanco Drive. They seized bags of marijuana and growing equipment. Police say no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.

An unidentified woman who lives at the home told KRDO Newschannel 13 that during the previous raid a month ago, officers broke down the door and used a flash-bang device to disorient dogs inside. She said police ultimately told her the growing operation was legal.

Police are releasing few details and have not said why they believe the growing operation is illegal.

Neighbors said they were aware of the previous raid and had assumed the growing operation was legal. They said two men also live in the home, but police say the men weren’t present during the raid.
