Former Pueblo County Deputy Arrested
Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former deputy on warrants of Introduction of Contraband in the Second Degree and Sexual Exploitation of a Child, class 6 and 4 felonies respectively.
50-year-old Raymond Gonzales was arrested on Friday around 4:20 p.m.
On October 5, 2011 Sergeant Alan Medina discovered a thumb drive in an official computer located in the one of the dorms at the jail.
Medina realized it was Gonzales’ property, who was a deputy at the time. He saw photos that alarmed him and immediately called investigators and command staff.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s office obtained search warrants and found child pornography on the thumb drive.
Child Pornography being illegal to possess would be considered contraband in a detention center. There is no indication that pornography was shared with anyone. Detectives only know that it was present and Gonzales brought it into jail on a personal thumb drive that also contained reports he had written over time and time sheets. He inadvertently left his personal thumb drive in the computer.
As of November 1, 2011 Ray Gonzales is no longer working for the Sheriff’s Office. He had been employed since 2007.
