Woman Who Hit Trick-Or-Treaters Ticketed

The driver of a car that hit a family of trick-or-treaters will be ticketed.

22-year-old Shynesia Harris received a summons and complaint for Pedestrians’ right-of-way in crosswalks and Careless driving, and was released on her promise to appear in court.

Harris was driving a tan Oldsmobile when she collided with three pedestrians.

A Colorado Springs couple was pulling their 4-year-old girl in a wagon when the car struck them. The 4-year-old received only minor injuries.

Police said the couple is Samuel and Kelly Kinkennon. They were crossing North Academy Boulevard at Parkmoor Village Drive at about 3:45 p.m. on Monday when the car crashed into them. Police on scene said it appeared the couple was following traffic laws, crossing at a crosswalk when they had a green light. The pedestrians were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Mr. and Mrs. Kinkennon were both diagnosed with serious, non life threatening injuries. Samuel Kinkennon was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

A witness said the little girl looked fine after the crash.

“I saw a man being loaded in an ambulance, then I noticed a little girl standing on the corner in a Cinderella costume,” said Laura Luna. “There were people gathered around her.”

Police said the girl was picked up by her grandma and taken to the hospital to get checked out.
