Police Search For Brookside Sex Assault Suspect

Colorado Springs Police is looking for a suspect in a sexual assault on a child. The assault happened in the 400 block of East Brookside St. around 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 25.

The 12-year-old girl was walking to her school bus stop when she was grabbed by a stranger. She struggled to free herself, but was physically and sexually assaulted.

The suspect was observed in the area 1-2 hours before the assault.

A composite sketch was made from victim and witness memory.

CSPD says the suspect is a pale white male, 5’6″, and 20-28 yeas old. He has short brown hair and was wearing black sunglasses, a dirty/worn dark brown baseball cap with yellow writing, a puffy black jacket with a forest green plaid lining, a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath his jacket, baggy blue jeans and a gold necklace that hung around mid-chest. The suspect did not appear to have a vehicle and was on foot.

Police tell KRDO Newschannel 13 they set up a perimeter around the crime scene and utilized K-9 units, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The victim was transported to the hospital after the assault.
