Lambert: Prop 103 Out Of Touch With Colo. Priorities

Colorado State Senator Kent Lambert, R-Colorado Springs, says Proposition 103 supporters are “totally out-of-touch with Colorado priorities.”

In a statement released by the senator’s office, Lambert compares the Prop 103 rejection to the Ellicott School District 22 recall of Stefanie Dickinson, the woman accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

He says, “In El Paso County, voters rejected Prop 103 by over 70 percent. By comparison, the recall election of a local school board member who was recently arrested for illegal stalking of underage students passed by a little over 74 percent. That proves that only sexual harassment of minors is more unpopular than tax increases in Colorado — but not by much!”

Lambert says that massive increases for union-supported government employees comes second to jobs and basic bills for struggling Colorado families. He also calls Senator Rollie Heath’s Support Our Schools Bright Colorado campaign “costly” and “time-wasting.” Lambert says this should be a clear lesson that taxpayers are fed up with reckless government spending.

Lambert praises Colorado’s education system, saying that in the 2011 National Assessment of Education Progress report, also known as “The Nations’ Report Card,” which was also released on Election Day, 4th and 8th graders in Colorado do relatively better than students in most states. He says, “Some of our most successful schools have also demonstrated that better quality and exciting outcomes can often occur at a lower cost.”

He says legislators should work toward innovation and not continue to ask taxpayers for more money.
