Fort Carson Unit Heading To Afghanistan
About 250 soldiers from Fort Carson’s 10th Combat Support Hospital are preparing for a yearlong deployment in Afghanistan.
Fort Carson said Wednesday the unit will provide emergency medical services, doctors, nurses and technicians at five forward operating bases in Afghanistan. They’ll also be working alongside medical personnel from the United Kingdom, Spain and Italy.
The unit will hold a color-casing ceremony at Fort Carson on Friday at 1 p.m. on Manhart Field. The casing of unit colors is a military tradition signifying the unit’s readiness for deployment.
The troops will be deployed in the coming weeks.
