Zombies Arrested In Durango
Monday night’s Zombie March in Durango ended in 22 arrests.
Around 12:30 a.m., approximately 1,500 people were blocking all four lanes of Main Avenue in the 600-700 blocks. Durango Police responded to the unpermitted event that was preventing traffic from moving in either direction.
Police tried to move people out of the streets and onto the sidewalks.
Some members of the crowd threw glass bottles, rocks, sticks, trash cans, and other items at the police officers. Some also damaged vehicles, parking meters and flower planters.
Officers were forced to use non-lethal methods of crowd disbursement, including pepper spray.
By around 3:00 a.m., 22 arrests had been made, including 6 females and 16 males ranging in age from 17 to 50.
Most of the arrests were for failing to disperse, obstructing a roadway, disorderly conduct, and obstructing an officer which are all misdemeanor offenses.
One person was arrested for a felony assault on a police officer.
City crews were called in at 4:00 a.m. to clean up the broken glass, planters, and trash that had been strewn in the street and sidewalk.
