Woman Arrested For Embezzling $460,000 From Employer

The Colorado Springs Police Department has arrested a woman accused of embezzling over $460,000 from her employer, causing them to file for bankruptcy.

Christina Michelle Bratcher was arrested for theft for embezzling funds from Colorado Welding Supply while she was employed as the book keeper.

As a result of her theft, the local owners of the business had to file for bankruptcy protection and sell their business. The business owners discovered the theft during the bankruptcy proceedings and reported it to the police.

Detectives reviews the business records and discovered that Bratcher had issued large checks from the business account to herself. She hid the theft by falsifying entries in the business check ledges, saying they were going to vendors.

Bratcher will be in court on Nov. 2 for advisement of charges.
