Self-proclaimed Gypsies admit to swindling seniors

Two self-proclaimed Gypsies have plead guilty to burglarizing the homes of senior citizens in Colorado, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.

On Wednesday, Erik Burt, 29, and 28-year-old Javon Ristick were each sentenced to eight years in the Department of Corrections.

According to the indictment, they each stole tens of thousands of dollars in cash and belongings from 10 seniors.

The pair got into their homes by pretending to be relatives or neighbors of the victims. Ristick allegedly distracted the victims while Burt stole cash, jewelry, collector coins and other items, according to the indictment.

Senior citizens in Denver, Arvada, Colorado Springs, Golden, Lincoln County, Lakewood and Strasburg were targeted.

Both Burt and Ristick agreed to pay $52,100 in restitution.
