Fundraiser For Boy Who Died Playing Choking Game

There will be a fundraiser Wednesday for a boy who died playing “the choking game.”

The fundraiser will be held at the newest Garbanzo’s restaurant in the Briargate shops from 4-9 p.m.

12-year-old Gian-Luc Jordan passed away more than two months ago after being taken off life support. Jordan was playing the Choking Game at his home on August 13 when he was severely injured.

Garbanzo will donate 25% of all proceeds to the LUCASTRONG fund. The money will be used to help pay for medical bills from Jordan’s stay in Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

According to the CDC, the Choking Game is an act of suffocation on purpose. It can cause severe brain damage and even death.

Jordan was a seventh grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School in school district 20.
