Fallen Soldier Returns To La Junta
A fallen soldier from La Junta returns home Tuesday.
Staff Sgt. Robert “Brian” Cowdrey was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month. Cowdrey’s body arrived in Colorado Springs Tuesday morning and is being taken to La Junta, his final resting place.
La Junta is anticipating his arrival between 2 and 2:30 p.m. The community is asked to line the streets wearing red, white and blue and waving flags to honor the fallen soldier. The procession will enter on Third Street and travel to Raton Avenue where it will then head south to Peacock Larsen Funeral Home.
Cowdrey died after getting hit by enemy fire. He was a flight medic with the 3rd Batallion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg.
