Assault Victim Talks Exclusively To KRDO
“He was just pummeling away on me,” described Victor Freeman.
Freeman was assaulted while riding his bicycle in Canon City in September.
He said it was unexpected and terrifying. Freeman said the man driving the truck got out and started attacking him.
“He hit brakes, jumped out and proceeded to throw me on the ground. He literally picked me up, bike and all, and slammed me down,” said Freeman.
Freeman said he tried to fight back. Luckily, witnesses came to his rescue. Then, he said the man fled the scene.
Police have identified the man driving the truck as Canon City Fire Lt. Erik Johnson. He was arrested at his home a short time later.
He faces felony assault charges and drunk driving charges. Johnson didn’t wish to comment on the charges against him.
