Occupy Movement First Arrest

The Occupy movement had its first arrest early Tuesday morning in Acacia Park. The homeless outreach team or HOT arrested Steve Bass at 2 a.m.

There was an unofficial agreement between Occupy and the city of Colorado Springs to allow sleeping bags, information and medical tents to remain in the park. Steve Bass is a homeless advocate in southern Colorado. Bass told me he chose to put up the tent to bring attention to the homeless plight. Bass was asked by Occupy to honor the unofficial agreement. He chose not to honor it.

Tuesday afternoon at 2, Occupy organizers will meet with the city to get a permit to remain in the park under certain conditions. We will be at the meeting, too. A full report on KRDO, NewsChannel 13 at 4:30.
