Chase From El Paso To Teller Leads To Arrest

Teller County deputies arrested a man after a long chase this morning through El Paso and Teller Counties.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says deputies pulled over a man in a silver Volkswagon early this morning under a DUI suspicion. However, the deputy let the suspect go.

Around 7:00 a.m., the same man passed another deputy in the “right turn only” lane on Hwy 24 near the I-25 overpass and continued to drive on the shoulder. She also noticed the car had a flat tire and pulled him over. The deputy tried to get information from the driver, but he drove away. She pursued the suspect for about five minutes on Hwy 24.

Woodland Park Police called the Teller County Sheriff’s Office after seeing the suspect leaving a Diamond Shamrock. A TCSO deputy tried to pull the suspect over, but he would not stop. The deputy continued to follow the suspect, but says it was not an active pursuit.

The man was eventually taken into custody on Crags Road going into the Crags Campground Area.

According to EPSO, he will be facing several charges in both counties.
