A deadly wreck Saturday evening along Highway 115 just south of Fort Carson’s main gate killed one person.

The wreck happened just before 5 p.m. near milepost 39 according to Colorado State Patrol. A spokesman said that’s just south of Fort Carson’s main gate near the Turkey Creek area.

Two cars crashed head-on. State troopers said a 19-year-old girl from Colorado Springs was killed at the scene.

Troopers said she was the passenger in a car driven by Melisa Loftin, 21. Loftin was driving northbound when she lost control of her car and it swerved into the southbound lane. Troopers said Loftin was flown by helicopter to St. Mary Corwin Hospital.

According to State Patrol, the driver of the other car, Jennifer Curliss, and her passenger, Ashley Hirt, were taken to Penrose Hospital.
