Fountain Family Searches For Missing Pet
A young Fountain boy lost his dog, but, as his mom explained, the dog helped keep the toddler healthy.
“I can’t find her,”said 4-year-old Noah Heap. He’s talking about his dog Gracey.
Gracey was always by his side.
“She’s very protective,” said his mother, Christine Heap.
Gracey was protective like most dogs, but the dog wasn’t just any toddler’s pet.
“Our son Noah almost died last summer. He had high blood pressure and almost had kidney failure. It’s been a very tough journey,” said Heap.
It’s a journey that isn’t over and may never be.
“There is no cure for this disease. He has Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis,” said Heap.
It’s a rare disease where Noah’s cells attack his kidneys. Noah explains it as, bugs in his stomach. He has to take several injections a day to help fight the disease. His mom is always by his side, but Gracey is still missing.
“She’s just helping him out physically and mentally. She just use to lay in front of him and they’re best friends,” said Heap.
Noah holds on to a picture of Gracey to remind him of his pal.
“It just breaks my heart,” said Heap.
The family says another dog just won’t do.
“If you lose a child you just don’t go buy another one,” said Heap.
Gracey was last seen Friday off of Fillmore in the Cascade area.
“It’s very important for us to get Gracey home, she’s part of the family,” said Heap.
If you have seen Gracey, you are asked to call the Humane Society at 473-1741. The Heaps have been in contact with them about Gracey. They are offering a reward of $100.
