Walsenburg Police Investigate Sexual Assault, Kidnapping

Walsenburg police are investigating a reported sexual assault and kidnapping of a school student.

Police say the attack happened on Tuesday.

Police were notified a little after 4:30 p.m. by a parent who called to report their child was missing, police said.

Police learned a short time later that the student had been located by a school employee several block away from the school near the Heurfano County School football field, said police.

The student told officers she was assaulted on school grounds by two men and the taken to another location and assaulted again, police said.

The student was transported to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo for treatment, police said.

Court records indicate the victim is a teenage girl.

Court documents indicate the girl was sexually assaulted.

Two people have been arrested in the case. Daniel Willburn and Laquun Murphy are in custody, police said.

Court documents regarding the two suspects show they are being held on charges of sexual assault, second degree assault, second degree kidnapping and false imprisonment.
