Inactive Voters Will Not Get Ballot

Some people in El Paso County will not be receiving a ballot for November?s mail in election because they are inactive voters.

An inactive voter is defined as someone who did not vote in the last election. Voters who have moved since the last election and did not update their address also will not get a ballot.

Anyone who has not received a ballot can still get one if the voter status is updated.

Initial reports indicated 1000 soldiers overseas would fall into the inactive voter category, but County Clerk Wayne Williams said that is not the case. None of the El Paso county troops overseas are inactive.

Only one member of the Military overseas hasn?t gotten their ballot.

?There was one for whom, one, one for whom mail was returned so that individual was not sent a ballot,? said Williams.

So, what about the report? Turns out, it was in reference to another group that is not directly tied to the Military.

?They could be individuals that could be serving a mission or a foreign exchange student or they are contactors,? said Williams

Locally or overseas, anyone who hasn’t gotten their ballot in the mail can go to the county elections department to activate their voter status or just do it online.
