All Suspects In Bonita Village Shooting Arrested

Colorado Springs police said they have arrested all three suspects in the Bonita Village Drive shooting that happened nearly two weeks ago.

Richard ‘Scott’ Campbell was taken to the hospital after the shooting on September 26. His family took him off of life support days later.

Police said they were searching for Antonio Pegues, Donny Lopez and Robert Pesante in connection with the shooting death.

Antonio Pegues was arrested early Thursday night, setting in motion the capture of the other two suspects.

Officers said Donny Lopez and Robert Pesante were taken into custody at around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

The men were arrested at a home in the 1200 block of Chiricahua Drive in El Paso County.

Neighbors told KRDO Newschannel 13 that Lopez and Pesante lived in the home off and on.

Police said tips from the public and investigative work helped them find the men. Lopez and Pesante were in a rollover on Howell Road near Old Ranch Road Thursday night.

Officers said Lopez and Pesante ran from that accident and stole a car in the 3400 block of Limber Pine Court. The stolen car was found Friday morning near the home where the standoff happened.

Neighbors told KRDO Newschannel 13 that Pesante surrendered himself pretty quickly to police, but that Lopez refused to come out of the home for several hours.

Police said El Paso County SWAT conducted the arrest, with help from Colorado Springs police. Neighbors said law enforcement had to use tear gas to get Lopez out of the home.

As of Friday morning, police said all three suspects have been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Officers said additional charges will likely be filed and that more people may face charges if police find that they helped the suspects elude police.
