UPDATE: Police Activity At Fountain Walgreens

Police from Fountain and El Paso County Deputies are investigating a shooting at the Walgreens in Fountain near the corner of Fountain Mesa and Mesa Ridge Parkway.

Authorities say a person involved in an earlier domestic incident at another location went to the store and shot himself.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning regarding a family disturbance on Everett Drive in the Widefield area. The suspect was reportedly outside the home armed with a handgun. He threatened a female family member with the gun and also threatened other family members, including children who attend Pinello Elementary School. Shortly after he fled in a black truck.

Pinello Elementary was put on lockdown during the situation.

The suspect was located at the Walgreens on 7910 Fountain Mesa Road.

He was found inside the vehicle with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He was still alive at the time and transported to a local hospital. He died later at the hospital.

The lockdown at Pinello Elementary was lifted once the suspect was located.
