Snow In The West, Winds In The East

Forecasters are warning of wintry weather over much of western Colorado, while gusty winds are buffeting much of the other side of the state.

Western Colorado is under a patchwork of advisories, including a freeze warning in the northwest and southwest corners and winter storm warnings or winter weather advisories in between.

The National Weather Service says a foot or more of snow could fall in some areas above 9,000 feet.

High winds and poor visibility prompted the state highway department to close both directions of a 12-mile stretch of Interstate 70 between Burlington and the Kansas border.

The Weather Service says winds gusting up to 60 miles an hour are expected on the Eastern Plains.
