Former Federal Employee Indicted For Embezzling Money

A National Park Service employee is indicted for embezzling about $730,000 in money from her employer.

48-year-old Lydia L. White of Hooper was named in the 198 count indictment Wednesday. White is charged with 145 counts of theft of government property, and 53 counts of money laundering.

According to the indictment, from March 2007 through December 2010, the defendant allegedly stole money from the National Park Service for personal use. She is also accused of using stolen money from the National Park Service in transactions that affected interstate commerce.

If convicted of theft of government property, White faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 per count. If she is convicted of money laundering, she will face up to 20 years for each count.
