Army Vet Fights For Son, Hits Jurisdictional Fingerpointing

An army veteran in Colorado Springs says he’s fighting for his son’s safety, but running into a bureaucratic nightmare.

2 years ago allegations of sex assault were made while the boy was with his mother in Florida.

The boy’s father, Terrell King, won temporary emergency custody of his son when the family moved to Oklahoma.

Since then, the Kings were transferred to Colorado Springs, the boy’s biological mother moved to Texas and wants to fight the case there.

But, King says all states involved are now claiming not to have jurisdiction, and his temporary emergency custody runs out in less than a month.

The judge in Oklahoma told him to file the case in Texas.

Texas attorneys told him and his attorney in Oklahoma that the case will be thrown out of Texas because of jurisdictional issues.

The Colorado Department of Human Services told him they can’t take on the case because it’s not in their jurisdiction, even though this is where the boy lives now.

“As a father I feel like… I don’t know what to do, to actually protect my child,” King told us.

He and his new wife, who’s currently in the military, say they’ve spent more than $10,000 on the case and are running out of money. They say they’re really just looking for advice from anyone who may have endured something similar.
